All materials used in DX FUTON and Shiatsu-/TWIN Futon are strictly tested for harmful substances ...

... the test is based on the test criteria of the QuL (quality association for environmentally-agreeable latex mattresses).
The elaborate catalog of around 240 relevant pollutants as well as strict test parameters are the safest method in the field of testing for pollutants. The owner of FUTONWERK is a co-founder of the QuL.

If you select the option 'organic' ('Bio'), we will use cotton fibres from controlled biological cultivation - primarily from southern Europe, the middle east and northern Africa.

The cotton-satin (cover fabric) or rather the cotton fibres for it are from controlled biological cultivation certified by the GOTS (if you select the option 'organic' ('Bio') and come from a weaving company situated in Münsterland.

The wool in Alpine Country Quality is from a regional, species-appropriate sheep-farm of small, usually lower Austrian sheep farm cooperatives (which, according to chemical analtics, correspond to the 'Bio-Standard', kbT, which translates to controlled biological animal husbandry). We don't use a specifically certified kbT-wool (but instead merely compare the numbers), because it would increase the price of your futon unnecessarily.

The coconut fibres originate from southern Asia, Sri Lanke to Indonesia, but are processed here and tested (by ECO).

And our 100% all-natural rubber is made by a German company in Indonesia and regularly tested by the eco-INSTITUT, Cologne.

Seeing that the subject of purity / testing for pollutants is very complex and hard to understand for those not familiar, we will refrain from a more elaborate presentation on our website and instead, we vouch for our care with our name. However, customers who are interested can get a deeper insight if desired.

All details on our materials as well as our ECO certificate can be found on the page Material / Commodities.
