Zen R3+8

Clarity is an attainable virtue.

During the 1980s this futon was named "Futon CDE" and it was a best seller product. Unfortunately its popularity declined due to the "memory foam boom" … now they are making a comeback. Zen R3+8 is a strong and comfortable futon, with perfect "climate regulation".

It beds almost every sleeper very comfortably, even though it can be perceived as too soft in the beginning - but be assured that it will become considerably firmer with time. If you provide it with a lot of fresh air (in vegan version also sun baths), turn it around and loose it up often, roll it up occasionally, then this futon will last comfortably and nicely up to 10‑15 years.

This futon is sufficient for light to medium heavy futon sleepers or stomach/back sleepers.
Heavy people starting at approx. 75 kg or "mattress emigrants" can combine Zen R3+8 with any other shiatsu futon according to their needs, creating an extremely comfortable TWIN Futon.

Materials & Measures
  • 6 x 500 g/m² fleece wool in alpine quality, 2 x 1000 g/m² cotton
  • 3 x 1000 g/m² coconut fiber (more firm, vegan) or horsehair (more elastic)
  • Cover: cotton satin from controlled organic cultivation (GOTS), 260 g/m²
  • Height: approx. 10-12 cm
  • Weight: 9.5 kg/m²
    • Also available in vegan (using coconut fiber and organic cotton (GOTS) replacing wool and cotton)

(**) Short explanation: "Coconut fiber or horse hair? A perceptible difference between coconut fiber and horse hair is minor, allowing your choice to be made according your personal taste. Horse hair is an animal fiber and a bit more flexible, coconut fiber is a vegetable fiber, off odors and a bit more eco-friendly. The Zen Collection

Zen futons are made of 100 % natural materials. Wool, with or without horsehair or cotton with coconut (vegan). Or three fibres, cleverly combined.
According to demand and use the Zen mats can be perceived as smooth or robust, but they are always completely natural, climate active and flexible.

In combination with another Zen or a , a comfortable TWIN Futon can be achieved; for this purpose, particularly the variants with horsehair or coconut are suited.
The most popular combination: Yasumi 3+2 with Zen R2+6.

Handles assist in lifting heavy mattresses for turning and airing out.
On light Zen and Yasumi futons having handles would be annoyingly prominent and wouldn't improve use.
For the strong types, especially in large sizes, handles help with handling.

The slip cover, organic / colored

Our futons are basically natural, undyed, because we weave a strong cloth from fine organic cotton, in a noble satin weave, which meets all requirements and dyeing would affect the material. If you would like color on the futon (e.g. for use as a sofa), please do so with the additional protective cover, colored.
