BIOFUTON DW 6.1 – The Power-Futon

And how do you describe this powerhouse?

Basically, we have only made one modification to the Biofuton DW 6.0, which has resulted from experience: We have made this futon even stronger, consistently strong.

And does that make it firmer / harder?

No, you can't say that, "hard" is the wrong expression for quality mattresses like ours anyway. With this amount of powerful materials we get stability, and because that's so much more carrying capacity than most people know, some find it very solid or even 'hard', but terms like 'bulging' or 'strong' might be more appropriate. If it ends up being too tight, you can put on a light topper. This alternating layering of natural latex and horsehair creates a dynamic that is particularly beneficial to heavy people. But no matter what weight you lie on this futon, it feels "real".

Well, if I really want that typical futon feeling, i.e. quiet stability, calm, earthy lying, then the DW 6.1 offers this to me immediately, in the best possible way. And for everyone, regardless of weight. In addition, with 10 cm of natural latex, it ensures that this lying feeling is maintained for a very long time.

Is that the perfect natural mattress under the umbrella term 'futon'?

Well, we're very strict about that and not everything that's good is good for everyone, but with this futon we're pretty close. The same applies to the sister model DW 6.1 /sensitiv, for people with a gentle orientation or side sleepers.

This powerful, strong futon is for people from 50-150 kg, except sensitive side sleepers and for everyone a powerful futon experience.
Biofuton DW 6.1 is always made with edge / reversible handles.
A futon is felt differently depending on body weight:

50-60 kg : (soft to) medium
60-100 kg : medium firmness (optimal)
100-140 kg : increasingly firm

DW 6.1 lies best on a strong base, in the manner of our slatted frames.
Each mattress should be turned to evenly distribute wear and increase the useful life, futons are best turned at each change of bedding in the early days, and less frequently later. Biofuton DW 6.1 is so strong that many people hardly show signs of use, then of course a much less frequent turning rhythm, according to your own assessment, is fine. (**) Short info: Coconut fibre or horse hair? The noticeable difference between coconut fibre and horse hair is very, that you can make the decision according to personal taste. The processing for futon fleece is identical, and the climate Properties in the futon.
Only at the FUTON DX 2, and the Zen Shiatsu futons it can be felt that the coconut fiber is minimal more fixed.

We have always offered vegan futons (without animal fibers), so of course all our futons can be bought vegan as well. However, the functional quality of the futon is reduced as a result of not using (our clean alpine) wool. The futon requires more care and tends to be harder - an effect that is reinforced by the coconut fibers.
If you live vegan, simply select your favorite futon and order it vegan - the option for it will appear once you selected your desired dimensions and form. We will process cotton (on request also hemp, but this makes the futon harder) instead of wool and coconut instead of horsehair, and the price remains the same.

Our futons are available in the standard shape or with a border and handles in the color natural. From a size of 160x200 cm, the turning-handles make handling much easier. The additional price is based on the complex sewing method with the stable locking of the handles in the additional side floor of the futon cover (simple handle loops would tear out quickly).

Our futons are basically natural, undyed, because we weave a strong cloth from fine organic cotton, in a noble satin weave, which meets all requirements and dyeing would affect the material. If you would like color on the futon (e.g. for use as a sofa), please do so with the additional protective cover, colored.
