FUTON DX4

...a classic - for 20 years the most widely sold futon of its kind - and a real treat for proven futon sleeper.

The large amount of natural fibers creates consistent futon typical strength and a comforting hygienic sleeping environment. The 5 cm natural latex core keeps the fibers in form and creates a good, comfortable base elasticity and long durability.
For people up to 95 kg who are looking for the typical futon feeling (also good for stomach sleepers), without having to move or roll the futon often.

FUTON DX 4 prefers to lie evenly solid (bed slats, tatami or floor) or for side sleepers on ergoVlex and best with 160 cm width.

Well suited for use on futon sofas, also makes from an excellent base to a modest sofa bed.

(**) Short info: Coconut fibre or horse hair? In short:
Coconut fibres make the futon firmer, horsehair makes the futon softer.

Horsehair, the animal fibre is somewhat smoother / more elastic and turns the futon softer. For futons with a covered or thin latex core, or for light or soft models ( DX 2, DX 3, DX 5, DW 2.0, DW 5.2, TWIN Futon ) horsehair is recommended.

Cocos, the plant fibre is somewhat rougher / firmer, which forms a tougher / more stable bedfeel, additonally it is odorneutral and slightly more ecological. For heavy futon models ( like DW 5.1, DW 6.1, DX 4plus ) cocosfibre is recommended.

The classic futons DX 4 and DW 5.0 are great with either fibre.

We have always offered vegan futons (without animal fibres), so of course all our futons can be bought vegan as well. However, the functional quality of the futon is reduced as a result of not using (our clean alpine) wool. The futon requires more care and tends to be harder - an effect that is reinforced by the coconut fibres.
If you live vegan, simply select your favorite futon and order it vegan - the option for it will appear once you selected your desired dimensions and form. We will process cotton instead of wool and coconut instead of horsehair, and the price remains the same.

5 cm firm natural latex (100 % natural rubber, H5, 85 kg/m³ density), builds the base
2 x 1000 g/m² coconut fiber (more firm, vegan) or horsehair (more elastic), regulates the climate
4 x 1000 g/m² cotton, is cuddly, climatically active and has anti-static properties
2 x > 500 g/m² fleece wool in alpine quality, absorbs moisture and cleans sustainably
The cover: cotton satin from controlled organic cultivation (GOTS), 300 g/m², point stapled

Shape variants

All futons are available in different forms:
Without handles (small, light models like the most TWIN futons),
with turning flaps (the most futon mattresses),
with edge / turning handles (the heavier models).

At 140x200cm handles are useful for handling, absolutely recommended for the heavier futons.
At 160x200cm they're almost necessary to move the futon mattress for turning and airing out.
The models Biofuton DW 6.1 / DW 6.2 are fundamentally fabricated in the variant edge / turning handles.
Some other models are also available in the variant “with edge and turning handles” (may be displayed).

Without handles

Small / light futons don't need handles. Handles are more of an eyesore for a sofa.

Two per long side, recommended from 140cm width for better grip when turning.

An edge between top and bottom with two turning handles on each long side, extra stable and visually discreet.

The slip cover, organic / colored

With a washable protective cover in the original satin or in color ...

Our futons are basically natural, undyed, because we weave a strong cloth from fine organic cotton, in a noble satin weave, which meets all requirements and dyeing would affect the material. If you would like color on the futon (e.g. for use as a sofa), please do so with the additional protective cover, colored.
